TRANSPARENCY
Transparency creates trust. UPIA follows the 10 standards of the “Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft” of Transparency International Deutschland e.V. for non-governmental organisations. We are always ready to answer any questions that relate to our responsibility for the common good. We openly share the aims of our association, where our financial resources come from and how we use all funds.
10 Standards
1) Name, headquarters, address, year of founding
United People’s Improvement Association (UPIA)
Reitmayrgäßchen 5a, 86152 Augsburg, Germany
Founded in 2024.
2) Statutes / objectives
Our aim is to deliver social support on a grassroots level, raise social awareness and connect people from all over the world in a positive and long-term way. We work to improve living conditions and create new opportunities for all who have had fewer chances for a safe and prosperous life on this planet. We raise our voices particularly for the poor and needy, coming together as ONE.
We believe in one human family. We want to overcome outdated national borders and psychological barriers, because we are all in the same boat.
Together with committed people and professionals from education, culture and other fields, we want to strengthen the resilience and self-sufficiency of local communities. These communities may care for homeless street children, socially deprived people or elderly people in need and provide food, medicine, shelter and other essential basic items.
We take every local and personal problem seriously. UPIA explores new forms of participation for people who are more or less excluded from the activities of so-called “high society”. With low-threshold programmes and community-building efforts – from art to farming, from sports to educational initiatives – we work to create stable socio-economic networks that can endure.
3) Information about tax status
UPIA is not yet registered as a legal development association with charitable tax status, even though it already works in this spirit and aims to reach this status in the near future. All funds are transferred directly to the specified community projects through our contacts on the ground and are documented openly on our website.
4) Names and functions of key decision-makers
Sascha Gaupties, Chairperson – projects Ethiopia & Jamaica
Michael Kabwe Mumba, Second Chairperson – project Zambia
Sebastian Weißhaupt, Third Chairperson
5) Activity report
We prepare and publish a yearly activity report.
6) Team / personnel structure
All actions are carried out on a voluntary basis in our free time. Team members or persons with an extraordinary workload within single projects, who make the work on the ground possible, are always mentioned and honoured openly.
7) Sources of funds
Since the establishment of UPIA in 2024, all income has come from donations and monthly funding contributions. We are always looking for new supporters wherever we go (for example at events, in private circles, at work). We also plan to expand our fundraising through Facebook and suitable external online platforms.
We do not have any commercial revenues and, up to now, have not received any public funding.
8) Allocation of resources
We act conscientiously and responsibly for the common good. Where specified, we separate recurring donations by project region. One-off or monthly contributions can therefore be directly related to the chosen project and our contact persons on the ground. In this way all transactions can be traced and verified.
Administrative expenditure is covered but will definitely not exceed 2–3%. The calculations are explained and presented in an annual financial overview and in the activity report.
9) Corporate affiliation with third parties
UPIA is not legally bound to any third-party company.
10) Major donors (more than 10% of the annual budget)
Donors whose contributions exceed 10% of the annual budget will be contacted by email (unless they wish to remain anonymous). The improvements made possible by their support are clearly documented and highlighted.
We hope we could show our clear commitment to transparency. Our goal is to unite as many voices as possible for those who have no voice and who often live in desperation or under unbearable circumstances. We want to strengthen socially weaker communities and individuals who are too often forgotten.
Feel free to contact us at any time if you have questions.
